CCU student earns PGA Golf Management WORKS Scholarship
Brianna Fleming was awarded the PGA Golf Management WORKS scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic year by the PGA REACH Program. The PGA WORKS initiative is designed to evolve the demographic composition of the golf industry's workforce and the PGA of America's Membership. Scholarship recipients will pursue full-time undergraduate studies at one of the 18 accredited PGA Golf Management universities during the 2020-2021 academic year, with the ultimate goal of obtaining PGA Membership.

CCU student earns Gilman Scholarship to go to Greece
Coastal Carolina University student Emily Doscher, a philosophy major, has been awarded a Gilman Scholarship worth $3,500 to support her cost of living abroad in Greece as an environmental law intern. The Gilman Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic competitiveness.

CCU student receives prestigious State Department scholarship to study Russian language
Hannah Hamelman has been awarded a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship to study the Russian language this summer at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students. It's part of a government initiative to expand the number of Americans studying and mastering foreign languages that are critical to national security and economic prosperity. CLS plays an important role in preparing students for the 21st century's globalized workforce and increasing national competitiveness.

Four CCU students earn Real Estate Programs scholarships
Four students have been awarded the Grant Center for Real Estate and Economic Development's Real Estate Programs Scholarship for the 2018-2019 academic year. All four students will be formally introduced at the Grant Center's 21st annual Economic Growth and Real Estate Summit on Oct. 5, 2018, at the Marina Inn.

Coastal Carolina University juniors named Swain Scholars 2017-2018
Two juniors at Coastal Carolina University have been selected for the Swain Scholars program. In the next four semesters, these students will plan and execute community outreach and research projects designed to improve the health of Horry County residents. The Swain Scholars program is composed of selected undergraduate students from the public health, biochemistry, biology, exercise and sport science, and chemistry programs. The students receive scholarships of up to $5,000 per year based on academic and financial criteria.

WIPL announces 2015-2016 scholarship recipients
Twenty-seven Coastal Carolina University students have been awarded scholarships totaling $30,000 for the 2015-2016 academic year through Women in Philanthropy and Leadership for Coastal Carolina University (WIPL). The 2015-2016 recipients are from eight states, including 17 from South Carolina.

Coastal Carolina University music students awarded scholarships
Four Coastal Carolina University music students have been awarded an Herron-Carleton-Talbert scholarship from the Grand Strand Opera Workshop. The students are soprano Megan Hoffman, tenor Kevin Arnold, mezzo-soprano Hannah Battley and baritone Walter Tucker. The scholarships were presented at a dinner held at Brother's Grill in Myrtle Beach that was co-sponsored by the Leo Darrigo Lodge 2868 Order of the Sons of Italy.

Student recieves CCU history scholarship
Steven Sargent, a senior history major at Coastal Carolina University from Miami, Fla., received CCU's Childers Family Annual History Scholarship. The scholarship was established last year in memory of James G. Powell, a native of Loris, S.C., who valued the importance of education and encouraged his descendants to pursue higher education. His grandson Stephen Childers, a 1995 CCU history major, created the scholarship. Sargent, who will graduate in December 2015, is actively involved in historical research projects. He has been an integral member of a team of students and faculty that produced the multimedia exhibit "A War on Two Fronts," about the lives of African American soldiers in World War II. The exhibit will open May 21 at the Horry County Museum.
