Robyn Young graduates from Coastal Carolina University

Robyn Young, of Little River, SC graduated Magna Cum Laude from Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelor of Arts Interdisciplinary Studies in Interdisciplinary Studies on Saturday, May 11.

Some 739 students walked across the stage at commencement exercises on Saturday, May 11, at Brooks Stadium. A total of 950 students were eligible candidates for graduation.

U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R., S.C) was the commencement speaker and received the honorary degree, Doctor of Public Service.

Seven students received the President's Award for Academic Achievement, which recognizes students with the highest cumulative grade point averages. The following recipients of the award all had perfect 4.0 grade point averages, graduating summa cum laude: Alexander Beck, a history major/political science minor of Glen Allen, Va.; Amber Ciemniewski, a political science major with a minor in intelligence and security studies of Conway, S.C.; Katie Clark, a music major from Galivants Ferry, S.C.; Justin Creel, a biology major of Greenwell Springs, La.; and Sydni Donellan, an education major of Conway. S.C..

Coastal Carolina University is a dynamic, public comprehensive liberal arts institution located in Conway, just minutes from the resort area of Myrtle Beach, S.C. The University offers 65 areas of study toward the baccalaureate degree and seven master's degree programs in accountancy, business administration, education, marine and wetland studies, and writing. Ten new undergraduate degree programs include biochemistry, economics, graphic design, information systems, intelligence and national security, musical theatre, theatre arts, as well as criminology, health and aging, and social justice tracks in sociology.
