Rachel Whyte enjoys CCU's study abroad to Trinidad

2018 Jan 10

Rachel Whyte of North Huntingdon, PA, was one of 14 Coastal Carolina University students who traveled to Trinidad and Tabago for a Wintermester study abroad trip.

The students and two faculty members spent their winter break watching and studying preparations for Carnivale in Trinidad, playing and listening to calypso music and attending a Hindu wedding ceremony. The group traveled to the Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tabago. Students were able to get three credit hours for successfully completing one of three courses - World Music, Understanding Other Cultures or Independent Study.

Gillian Richards-Greaves, assistant professor of anthropology, and Jesse Willis, assistant professor of music and director of percussion studies, accompanied the students, instructed them and gave hands-on assignments.
