CCU's Samantha Clarke helps teach local children how to fish

2018 Feb 28

Since 2015, students at Coastal Carolina University, including Samantha Clarke, a Biology major from Howell, NJ, have been teaching Myrtle Beach-area elementary and middle school students how to fish as part of a student organization called Carolina Kids Fish.

The organization's purpose is to educate school-aged children the ins and outs of fishing, including fish identification, tying knots, casting, hook safety and environmental stewardship.

They host several events each semester that invites children to learn how to fish for free at Thompson Farm in Conway, S.C. The first one was held Feb. 25, and the others are scheduled for March 17 and 18, April 7, and April 15, all at 10 a.m.
